Things we need to know – 4. Imputation
In Romans 5:12-21, the Apostle Paul talks about what God imputes to us. The Cambridge online dictionary defines impute in both legal and financial contexts. In a legal sense, to impute is “to say that someone is responsible for something that has happened, especially something bad, or that something is the cause of something else.” In a financial sense, to impute is “to calculate something when you do not have exact information, by comparing it to something similar.” Romans 5:18 provides a summary: God imputes Adam’s sin to all people. He also imputes Jesus’ righteousness to all people. But how do we benefit from God’s actions through His Son? How does the reality of 2 Cor. 5:21, wher God made Him who knew no sin to become sin, so that we might be the righteousness of God through Him? Listen to Pastor Richard as he explains this important action of God, and how we might benefit from that and how vital it is for those around us.
