Living as God’s people seeking the welfare of the city – Insights from Esther – Part 6
In this final sermon in this series from Esther, Richard looks at chapter 8:1-9:4. In those pages we see how 1. God turns tables, 2. Honouring God in our lives is salt and light, and 3. Jews in Persia were saved twice – from Haman and from his law. These three points also help us to live seeking the welfare of the place God has planted us. So God still turns tables and we need to be praying for that in the lives of our families, friends and enemies. Salt and light through our lives is still best done through honouring and letting people know who God is to us. And we have been saved from both the consequences of sin and the power of sin, in an objective sense through Jesus’s death and resurrection, His blood shed for us, and in a subjective sense as we apply the Word of God to our lives through the indwelling Holy Spirit.
