John 1:1-18 is an amazing passage introducing a lot of the themes that the writer uses in his gospel. Within this passage John talks about how a person might become a child of God. In an age when people see themselves as God’s children by virtue of their goodness or decency, by reason of their heritage or because of what church they might belong to, the message of these verses challenges that view and establishes God’s agenda, His heart for people, and the relationship He wants with them.
