Living as God’s people seeking the welfare of the city: insights from Esther part 3
Esther chapter 4 contains perhaps the most crucial conversation n the book. In verses 13-17 the scene is set for God’s salvation. Richard highlights 4 take-aways from the chapter. Firstly, that we are in a spiritual battle, but we should not be afraid; secondly that salvation comes from God and through God alone – His will decrees it and His power performs it; thirdly that faith in God is not something to be taken lightly; and fourthly that Esther has come to her position of influence, one that has been arranged by God through His sovereign will and power, for such a time as this.
These four take-aways challenge us to take risks regarding our commitment to God’s plan in whatever place He has planted us in our social, financial and career worlds. Like Esther we must lose our life in order to save it. So we are through Esther challenged to die to this worldly life in order to find life and purpose in Jesus.
