The presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives should produce fruit.  Love is the fruit we strive for.  Gordon Fee, in his commentary on 1 Corinthians writes, “… Paul has in mind, … “love as the only context for gifts”; for without the former [love], the latter [gifts] have no usefulness at all – but then neither does much of anything else in the Christian life.”  But fruit of the Spirit can be challenging, at least as challenging as gifts!
