PowerHouse Prayer

January 11, 2011 · Filed Under our-blog · Comment

This year we are extending the length of our 24 hour prayer gatherings, so we really can’t call them 24hour prayer anymore.  We are calling them PowerHouse Prayer gatherings as this reflects our desire that prayer be the engine room of all we do.

The dates for all our PowerHouse Prayer gatherings for 2011 are listed HERE, as well as the link to the sign-up page to book a slot.  Hope to see you there.

Thought for the Day

I’m just doing some sermon prep and reading a great new book called, “Jesus Manifesto”, by Leonard Sweet & Frank Viola.  This quote has really struck me this morning:

Jesus cannot be separated from his teachings.  Aristotle said to his disciples, ‘Follow my teachings.’  Socrates likewise said to his disciples, ‘Follow my teachings.’  Buddha said to his disciples, ‘Follow my meditations.’  Confucius said to his disciples, ‘Follow my sayings.’  And Muhammad said to his disciples, ‘Follow my noble pillars.’

But Jesus says to his disciples, ‘Follow me.’

In all the religions and philosophies of the world, a follower can follow the teachings of its founder without having a relationship with that founder.  But not so with Jesus Christ. The teachings of Jesus cannot be separated from Jesus himself.

Food for thought I reckon!  What about you?
