Our vision

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.  Awe came upon everyone, because many wonders and signs were being done by the apostles. All who believed were together and had all things in common; they would sell their possessions and goods and distribute the proceeds to all, as any had need. Day by day, as they spent much time together in the temple, they broke bread at home and ate their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having the goodwill of all the people. And day by day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved. (Acts 2:42-47)

Our Purpose

Whyalla Baptist Church exists to actively and relentlessly pursue the Glory of God and the manifest presence of Jesus.  We do this through:

 Worship & Prayer

Whether it be our Corporate Gatherings, Small Groups, Ministry Teams or individually, we place the highest value and priority on connecting with God and pursuing his glory and presence through worship and prayer.  Prayer and Worship are the engine room of all we do.  We would expect that worship and prayer have a place of prominence in our gatherings, no matter how large or small.  We will also hold regular prayer gatherings such as 24hr prayer meetings.

 Teaching & Discipling

Whyalla Baptist has always been a place where people have grown in their faith and developed in ministry gifting.  We will be deliberate about training and equipping people for ministry and mission service.  We will provide varied opportunities for people of all ages to be discipled and will be intentional about helping people discover their call to ministry, wherever God would have them serve.  We will develop a strong and relevant teaching ministry.

 Mission

When we pursue God and seek his Glory, we often find He is leading us into the darkest places of our community and our world.  God’s heart is that none should perish and all should be saved.  We will see ourselves as a mission outpost in a world that desperately needs to hear of, and experience, God’s loving presence.  We will develop creative mission opportunities and seek to facilitate people and programs that minister to the broken and hurting communities of our world.

 Fellowship

We recognise that we are not meant to journey alone with Jesus.  God has designed us to live in fellowship and community.  We will take seriously the call of the gospel to love each other.  We will be an open, accepting church community which provides multiple strategies for care and fellowship.  We will seek to facilitate connection between followers of Jesus in creative and authentic ways.  We will also take seriously the value of connecting with other church communities in Whyalla, Australia and around the world.
